Oriental Lotus by Jovan c1985

Oriental Lotus by Jovan: launched in 1985.




Fragrance Composition: 


So what does it smell like? It was a spicy chypre perfume for women with fresh, aquatic notes.
  • Top notes: aldehydes, bergamot
  • Middle notes: lotus, spices
  • Base notes: oakmoss, patchouli

Ladies Home Journal, 1985:
"Summery scents: Oriental Lotus, Black Orchid. Island Gardenia. Jasmine and Misty Tea Rose create a heady new bouquet; from Jovan. $7.50."

Packaging, 1985:
"New introductions are Black Orchid and Oriental Lotus, which join the collection made up of Misty Tea Rose, Night Blooming Jasmine and Island Gardenia. Intended to create a "visual bouquet," the Jovan Florals unified packaging replaces the... " 

Esquire, 1986:

  1. Thank you Grace for this desperately needed categorization of Jovan fragrances. Oriental Lotus is a very interesting and unexpected composition, very aldehydic in the top, with a duality of lotus, heavy spice, and plastic (synthetic lotus, likely) in the middle. The base is heavy on Oakmoss; I would classify this as a spicy/aquatic chypre.
